Schizophrenia or bipolar disorder in
parents or siblings appears to be associated with an increased risk for autism
spectrum disorder (ASD), new research suggests.Results from a case-control registry
study conducted by researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill shows that the presence of schizophrenia in parents or a sibling was
associated with a 2.5- to 12-fold increased risk for ASD. A similar association
