May 6-11 is National Nurse Appreciation Week. Ranked as the most trusted professional by the Gallop Poll,nurses who work in the developmental disability field continue to advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities in a variety of settings.
Nurses in the developmental disability field role may include developing care plans, reordering medication, physically assessing the individual, monitoring G-Tube feeding and monitoring for seizures.
In a residential setting, they may be on-call 24 hours a day and help to create effective policy and procedures.
Here's to all the nurses, who continue to provide wonderful care to all people with developmental disabilities!.
